Default RMP gauge jumps randomly during driving???

Hey guys, I am relatively new here, and I am coming to find information. I have a 95 Civic stock 1.6l VTEC

I will be cruising along at 70MPH along the interstate with my RPMs at about 3K, and it will randomly jump up to 3.5-4K RPM. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with how the car performs or accelerates. It also happens when I am speeding up, but I probably don't notice it much.

I have a CEL throwing code 9 which is CYP censor - pretty much the distributor... took it to a mechanic and he said that if the car runs fine, which it does, don't worry about it.

Through searches and whatnot I have found two things that people are saying could cause it:

1) Distributor
2) Ignitor

If I could get any input it would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

yea, to make it reall easy just take off the distributor than take off the cap. once the cap is off u got to take off the rotor. their is a screw holdling it on and u may have to turn the rotor by hand to get to it. once thats off u will see a black box with wires going to it. thats ur coild just check the connections to that box.
o yea make sure u mark ur spark plug wires

distributor bolts are 12mm
cap is phillips head
rotor is phillips head
