Default How do I fix my broken ecu

So it all started the other day when I cranked my car up and it sounded like a wrx. wtf so I pop the hood and notice fuel spitting out of my exhaust mani (the bolt furthest to the left is stripped so it does have a small leak). So I assumed my injector was stuck opened. After 2 hours of tring to figure out wth was up we hooked a voltameter up and found injector 4 was pushing 30.4 volts in ac current. This was also coming from the ecu. So I switched the ecu's today and sure enough it worked fine. I took the s300 out and notice a little scorth mark on a2 which is the injector I was having trouble with. I then opened it up and notice a burn spot where a electrode, resistor, diode, or whatever the hell it is used to be attached. The fuc up electrode has Q3 above it and E1(i think) beside it, its in between diodes numbered c64 and c13. All stickers are stripped off the ecu but I think its a p74 usdm intergra ls. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Brett

Oh yeah I tried searching on hondata's website but everything says contact a dealer. If I got the proper resistor could I solder it back on? (I have a friend thats really good with this kind of **** so he would be doing the soldering(.

In other words does anybody have a number to hondata so I can send this **** off

I got it but i would still like to know if its possible to fix this myself. I talked to my buddy and he said find out what kind of resistor it is and we should be able to get one and reattach it. I assuming there are four of these for each injector and should be the same . If anybody can shed some light please do.

What he is describing is a damged ecu, not a damaged s300. In this case since you have already determined that another ecu is fine, you shoudl just swap the s300 into a new ecu.

You should also double check everything as you may have a fault int eh injector wiring that cased the ecu to get damaged in the first place. If this is the case and you do not find the fault and repair it, you will just damage another ecu.

Who is mtber cause I dont see any other replys or were you referring to my buddy when you said "he is describing a damaged ecu". Anyways yes I do believe a previous vafc wire was still attached to a2 and grounded out causing the ecu to short. Can I switch the s300 myself? Does it have to go into the same kind of ecu its in now or can I choose a p06 or p28? So your saying that theres pretty much no way I can repair the current ecu myself.

Your thread title should be changed.

burned out computer parts are not broken s300s

Make sure your injector wiring isn't shorted out grounded somewhere. and the socketing is done right.

if your not sure buy a ecu from hondata or ship your ecu there. at least you will know its done correctly.

People need to learn to read or pay attention or both. Yes I under[freak]instand its not the s300, damn once again pay attention. What Im wondering now is can anybody tell me what actually burnt off and can I fix it?

resistors are like 4.00 for 5 and they are band color coded. if its missing you might have to look in another ecu to find the colors. i would think the capacitors would burn before the resistors. In my opinion you should just buy another Professionally socketed ecu instead of risking burning out the s300 or smoking your motor from a rich or lean condition caused by a ruined injector driver circuit.
i think the P72 ecu has a diffrent S300 than the P28. look on their site.

most of us would not risk a 700.00 s300 and motor damage, compaired to the price of a known good professionally socketed ecu.

Thank you for your input and I totally agree. I just wasnt sure if this was a common practice (I have a friend who can do these sort of things if I can find out what fried). Thanks again I guess I'll get another ecu and send em off. What is involved in switching the s300 to another socketed ecu. I just had a offer of 195 for a socketed ecu but then do I have to send it back to hondata or can I do it myself.

Ok I found out that this q31 isnt even involved with the injector it seems to be the evap. Thats the only thing I see wrong with the ecu besides a little scorth mark on injector pin a2.
