Get the Viper GPS unit also. Just an alarm is pretty useless. If you're gonna try to protect your car, you're gonna need more than just an alarm.

One that keeps my car safe, alerts me of activity and can be traced...

I wouldn't give up what specific make/model on a public forum though. Besides, it's all just layers anyway.

The one that doesn't work anymore except as a keyless entry system.

None. My keys are always kept in the car too. Ignition is held together with zip ties.

90% of your alarm effectiveness is how well it is installed. Not how many bells and whistles it has.

I actually took the one that was on the car I am finishing up off. Clearly didn't work in the first place. At this point I think the alarms are pretty useless and the GPS tracking is about the only thing I'd spend money on..

da Squirl,

You're probably not going to get much feedback on this topic. It just makes the ITR's even easier to steal if you know the brand.

-M

p.s. For the record, I've got a $750 alarm with several LED's, two horns, hidden brain, and remote start (for the stunnas...). Oh yes, it's got a pager mechanism that eats AAA's too. Damn I'm gonna miss my R. Finally sold it, btw.

... very true. Hide those brains, and sirens!
