791 dilemma
Hey guys, i have a viper 791 alarm and i was wondering if there was a way to completely reset the brain of the alarm so that there are no remotes associated with the alarm, and then i can just install the remote i have.Thanx for the input
Yes, there is a way to delete all transmitters associated with the brain unit. Pages 35-36 of the Viper 791VX Installation Guide; it'll list all the steps in programming/removing remotes. If you don't have the manual, there are pdf versions floating around.

The thing is that i do not have the other remote that is associated with my alarm, as far as what i see, pages 35-36 talks about adding and taking away commands from the remotes, but you would have to press the keys from the remote you want to take off right?
Man this is confusing, what i did was open door, enter key in the on position, pressed valet switch 14 times, then it did two small chirps followed by a long one(i just have it connected to the horn). When i tried programming channel one, it did it as it was supposed to, so therefore it is not locked. So did i do anything wrong?

Anyone have any suggestions? This thing does not seem to reset the remotes once i press the valet switch 15 times, it just chirps a couple of times. Any suggestions, something else i should be doing ?
Delete all transmitters is 12 in the install manual I am looking at now, [first ones out] it does not have a "channel 6", [8] or "defogger control", [13] maybe you have an early model, this is the install guide I guess you have... http://www.directeddealers.com...5.pdf where the channel number guide is on page 35, on the install manual I have in front of me now the channel number guide is on page 36.

Open the door, turn the key on, then off. Hold down the valet until it gets into whichever menu you're going into. For instance, menu 2, hold it, it will beep once, keep holding it, it will beep twice. Now hit it how many times the feature number is, say 13, then press and hold it. So in reality you hit it 14 times, but on the 14th, you hold it down. It will beep 13 times. Now hit unlock on the remote. It will beep twice. Then turn the key on and off (not necessary but speeds up the process). It will chirp one last time.

Okay, so before i go try this out later on this week when i don't have to use the car, i do this. Open door, put key in ignition, second position in the ignition, , press the button 12 times, then press one more time then hold it, then it will chirp 12 times also, then i press the disarm button, then all of the remotes should be erased right? Then to program my remote back, do i start from the beginning, but this time i press the button once, then press it again, then hold it, then it will chirp once, then press the lock button on my remote?
Yes that should work, or you can just go directly to the remote programing mode and do it 4 times, you can only program 4 remotes to the alarm, when the 4th remote is programed or one remote is programed 4 times, it will erase any remotes that where programed into the alarm before.
We do that all the time for the used car dealers, [and new used car owners] here in town so they know there are no other remotes programed to an alarm other then the ones they have.

Hey fcm, thanx a lot for the help, i think i deleted all of the remotes. What i did was go through the beginning procedure then pressed the button twelve times, one more and held it, then pressed the unlock on the remote. I tried using the remote and it stopped working, so i guess it worked so far. Then i did the other thing you told me, i went through the first procedures, then pressed it once, pressed and held it, pressed the lock on the remote, then i let the button go, then i took the key off the ignition. It programmed the control back, i did this 3 more times, like you said to delete all remotes, what you think, was i right? BTW, thanx for all your help, really appreciate it, i wouldn't have gotten it by myself.
