Default Manual Steering Q's

I believe that my p/s pump is going out or is already gone (would it lock up at all if it gives out completely?). I am wanting to just put in manual steering. What civics have manual steeing that I could pull off at a junkyard. 92-95 4 door if needed. Is there anything tricky or common problems when switching?

If the steering feels heavy at really low speeds, then check your belt and fluids. If you end up needing a pump, I have an extra and I don't run power steering because I hate it. I'll sell you my extra for $5 plus shipping from zip code 61265. It needs a pulley, but you can just take it off your current one.
email me at timbabeu2005 at yahoo.com if you are interested.

Converting to an actual manual steering rack is said to be a lot of work and it supposedly makes steering really light on the highway. But yeah, if you just need a pump, I got that one off a low mileage D15B. I don't know what shipping is, but it can't be much. sorry if I'm rambling, I found some rum and I'm kinda out of it.

dude, power steering rocks. but not having power steering in a power steering car is twice as hard to turn.

you'll need a rack from a cx there are others but i can't remember. and you'll also need the spline fitting that mates the steering column to the steering rack. to get the rack out has a trick to it.

slide the rack all the way to the passenger side, remove passenger side link, remove bolts and drop the rack. you will need an alignment after this

when you pick your up from the yard check the boots for tears.

Manual steering on a power rack [freak]ing rocks. It feels so much tigher and more responsive. My power steering just felt soft. I've had it this way for a couple months now and i'm not going back.

I will have to look into it a little more. What kind of tools will I need to remove manual and how long would it take? Is this something that would be extremely hard to do at yard due to the area or condition? If I end up wanting/needing the pump I will definitely email you. Thank you.

you will need some jack stands for sure. i've done it with a lift and also on jack stands. it's very uncomfortable when you don't have a lift.
