Default Civic heats up to normal temp and dies?

Hi guys. I would like to say that I have searched this topic TNE. Maybe I am searching the wrong terms or something. My Accord has never had problems like this but I am thinking about buying an '89 Civic CX that has a strange problem. The car gets to a normal idle temp and just dies. I am assuming the seller means the car completely stalls. I do not know if he can get it to start back up or not. Should I even bother looking at this car? It seems like it is a great deal and it has lower miles, so can anyone give me some insight on how much work I will have to do if I decide to buy it?

Sorry for the scrambled post

Sounds like a bad relay, located just above the hood latch release pull.

Sound like your IACV is stuck closed causing you to bog out. The IACV is what regulated how much air bypasses the throttlebody keeping rpms up/

Ok, I know where the IACV is so I could check that, what would I do about a bad relay?

Any other ideas guys?

I did a search on "relay" and go 7 results. Most of them were related to the fuel pump. What exactly do relays do and what do they cost? Pics of a relay would also be appreciated.

I've been reading about some of the problems that are caused by main relays. Most of them describe the car having lots of trouble starting does the main relay also cause the car to stall?

yup, mine started to go when it was hotter out and with quick starts(gas station etc)The soldering on them is **** from what i was told.Very easy to replace and as stated it's a black square box 2 inches wide and inch tall located right above the hood release on the inside of your car.Mine cost $4 to replace at a local wrecker goodluck.

a guess might be that once the car warms up a sensor that is used during open loop could be defective. check ur coolant temp sensor, the guage on the dash is a separate circuit
