GReddy type S bov in my GSR not working
Im trying to get my type s to work but its not. all i have to do is hook it up to any vacuum lines on my intake manifold right?? i also adjust it to hard, soft, pretty much everywhere still dont blow off. So i thought that i have a bad bov so i bought a brand new type rs bov but it still dont blow off. What am i doing wrong?? please help me
yeap just tee it off to one of the vacuum lines..test it on the fpr for now..are you trying to make the bov come on by revving it or are you actually driving? maybe your getting a leak somewhere such as intercooler pipings not connected well..
you have the hose going to the top nipple right?

yea its going to the top. i made sure couplings were all tight no leaks. im actually driving it to see if it blows off, but dont. maybe something with the spring??
Shouldn't there be a boost-only (like one from the comprossor scroll nipple) hose attached to the side nipple on the BOV? That should help the BOV blow off even with the stiff spring pressure when there is a pressure differential between the vacuum in the top of the housing and the boost still in the bottom of the housing (below the diaphragm)?
Well, first set it soft. If it still isn't blowing off, then I'd open it to see if there's a double spring in it. I had a customer with the same issue last week...and he never took the top off to see that there was two springs in there and it was stiff as hell. Pulled out the one spring, set it and he was good. Only other thing is the diaphragm could have an issue.
So, if your hitting boost, and you have good vacuum lines, then that'd be the issue.

I think the key thing here is, if you tried to rev the car and see if it would blow off, while not moving, you're never goign to blow off, unless you have a GTI or SRT4.
If you started effing around with the adjustment screw before you tried driving it and getting it into boost, you need to get it set at a medium setting and go from there.......

wrong, thats definatly not the key thing here
hes already said that hes driving it around to get it to work. and even in nuetral it should open a little bit. my d series with a 57 trim blows off in nuetral.
where is your vac line tapped from? like exact location. make sure theres no check valves anywhere.
are you still actually building boost when youd drive it? how many psi? is it just compressor surging when you let off then or what noise is it making?
adjust it all the way soft( loosen). try again.

right, but if he adjusted it to full stiff, and he's only making 3-4psi, it may not be opening.
I've run a greddy type S on a T25 powered SR20. that thing would never open at idle, nor create boost just by revving,
I agree it could be a vac line issue, but I'm concerned that he's messed with the adjusting before driving it and maybe something is weird. I'd typically run the BOV source line off the FPR.
I'll agree to going to full soft instead of medium like my previous post. Drive it normally, get to full boost, and let off. See what soft does.
Come to think of it, doesn't the type S have 2 vac ports? I'm not looking at mine right now, but that could be a problem too.

yea its boostings for sure. im at 9 psi. yes i can hear the compressor surge. my vacuum is on the brake booster right now. and yes i test it while driving not reving in one spot

is the vacuum before the check valve? pics for sure might help
