Distributor problem with my Tune
Hi, Recently purchased a new Distributor, took the old one off but forgot to mark it.... Anyways Just wondering can i reinstall my new distributor and just get the timing light and just adjust the distributor so it is right on the white line on the crank pulley? Also the distributor goes in only one way right? I am meaning that the part that goes into the camshaft, only will go in one way? Thanks
Also I have searched!!

well call your tuner and ask him what he set the base timing to.
I know when I tune b-series engines I set the base timing to 16 degrees BTDC (which isn't the white mark on the crank pulley, thats TDC). You'll want to set it to the middle of the 3 marks on the crank pulley (if thats where your tuner set it).
So, yes you'll be fine setting the dizzy with a timing light, but make sure you're setting it back to the same degree as your tuner did.

The dizzy only goes on one way. If your car is already tuned, ask ur tuner wat the set base timing was. Afterwards depending on your timing gun, if you have an adjustable one you line it up with the white TDC Mark on your crank. If you dont have an adjustable one you can line it up to the 3 marks also on your crank, which is 14-16-18 But you gotta look in a manual if u really want to learn how to do it properly.

WHat kind of timing gun are u using? You only set it to the white line if its an adjustable timing gun with a dial, then u can dial it in until the white line on the crank pulley is syncd with the timing belt cover. If i were you i'd just put it at 15 to be safe, more than likely base timing was set at 16 degrees but running 1 degree less will not hurt the motor at all.

..i've seen 1 degree on a dizzy make as much as a 6whp decress or increase..it wont hurt it no, but it will make a difference.

Got a hold of the tuner, he said 16 degrees, wow tho IntegraType-R. You are so right, when I just slapped the distributor on, my car ran like **** and was very dead, but when I moved it a bit, It felt better. Now im going to have to buy a timing gun and do it right. Should i get an adjustable one or the normal ones they got?
