Im thinking about removing as much weight as possible just for the strip though. I was going to remove the sound deadening and figured i might as well leave the carpet out for the track too. Does anyone know offhand what the carpet and or the sound deadening weighs ?

IIRC Sport Compact Car had the carpet and deadening crap in the 40-50lb range in a Civic Si.....Not worth it if you ask me....the interior sound is horrible without it.....The inside resonates with the windows up and you'll hear every squeak and rattle that exists....
I am going to be using a Spray in Truck Liner next year in my completely gutted Civic. Sure it'll weigh a pound or 2 but it should deaded some sound and rattles.

 

Well I think a front seat weighs about that much and my car ran the same exact time without it as it did with it. 14.5@95mph. Maybe my driving just sux

 

All the sound deadening from a 4th gen is ~15 lbs.

That's 15 hp!!!!1
