Default BB1: Seeking Advice on H22A VTEC Swap

Well it finally happened happened at 201,XXX miles. I thought it was just the crank pulley but I'm apparently suffering from some major damage to the crankshaft. My car is a BB1 so I'm ready to just drop a JDM motor in there... and might as well go with the LSD trans while I'm at it.

Everyone here loves hmotorsonline.com but what about Japanese Performance Engines on ebay? I confess the cash savings from purchasing on ebay would make a big difference in my budget. Their feedback is 100%, but does anyone have any experience with this seller?

Its pretty much swap or a whole new car... and I don't want to lose the Lude. Anyway, I'm looking for advice. Please do not hesitate to post.

If its a daily driver get a new car.

If its a project car, go with Hmotorsonline.com

If you want to take a risk on an Ebay company motor go ahead. It probally wont last that long.

Thanks for the input so far. Yes it is a daily driver but my options are very limited at this point, and to be honest I'd rather take my chances with the Prelude than hop in some POS from the stealership. A new vehicle would be more loot in the long run for me... and I wanted to save for the day I can afford a new car. That CRZ gonna be any good?

Though keep in mind I'm commuting only about 40 miles round trip maybe 3 days a week tops. So 120 miles a week... I guess thats average. I gotta say I'm pretty attached to my 4th gen, its gotten me through some tough times and damn its a pleasure to drive.

EDIT:

So maybe hmotorsonline and skip the LSD?

seriously go with a motor from hmotorsonline. just get a long block for now and invest in an lsd tranny later when money is right. you can pick up non lsd trannys real cheap. shjt when i first did my swap and money was tight, i just used my f22 tranny to get my car running, cause i needed it to get to work.

Never consider a car an investment.

Or aftermarket parts for that matter too!

I will stay away from ebay. hmotorsonline FTW! But where is their warranty information?

Hey Acidcrakker, I'm in not far away in South Jersey. Any recommendations on a shop for the swap? The place it is at now quoted me 16 hrs at a whopping $90/hr. This does however include a clutch (If I even need one with an lsd w/35,000 miles?). Though I guess I might skip the LSD anyway.

I test drove a Mazda RX8... it was nice but its no Prelude. Shifter wasn't even close to mine with the forbidden part, though I confess the RWD was a bit of fun. Meanwhile my insurance will go about 1.5k a year for that thing. I'd rather fully insure the lude, it is MUCH less.

Lowsy big decisions.
