Break in period for the R
Well March 9 i blew my motor. I bent 12 valves and blew my tranny. Acura warrantied it all. just got the car back yesterday and it runs like new. i was wondering how many miles and how should i break in the new head, clutch, and tranny. so far i put 200 miles on it. any help would be appreciated
An automotive journalist for Bimmer magazine told me that you should keep it under 4k for the first 1k miles. Then for every additional 200 miles go a thousand higher. So at mileage 1000-1200 you'd rev to say 5k and step your RPM up in 1k increments per every 200 miles.
Also make sure to not keep the car at the same RPM for long periods (street driving is perfect for this) and don't floorboard the car until it is fully broken in.
what you missed a gear and you get a free engine?
(i was in the car when it happen) that's how he got a new engine/clutch/tranny...one of my friends who used to work w/ me at honda is now a parts manager at acura

When i bought the car, I dumped the clutch in the dealership and had it redlined before I was out of the parking lot
Not sure if that was the problem or not, but I'm on my second motor now
Craig - Who is just kidding and did not punch it even when the dealer said "Get on it you pansy"
