Default Synthetic oil in a high milage engine?

My trusty 90 accord work beater has been getting a consistent 27-29 MPG for a while now. Its about due for anothr oil change and was thinking about puting synthetic in it to see if there was any difference in milage. My main concern is that the engine has 260,000 on it. It has a few minor oil leaks and doesent burn much oil. probably 1 qt in 3000 miles. other than that its solid and runs great. Whats your thoughts?

Thanks
Nick

The cost increase would outweigh the benefits in your case. Just use a good oil and put a zinc additive in it. Try giving it a tune up and change the trans fluid.

Synthetic oils have their place...Your 260k motor is not one of them IMO.

Without to much detail here, you should always try to use the same oil when possible#1. #2 those leaks you have now, will get worse with a full synthetic keep in mind.
