Default Spool VS LSD

im running a lsd right now in my VW running 10.5@144mph i know the spool locks both wheels and would be better but safety wise, if a axle snaps your right in the wall??

is it really worth it 1/4 mile time to run a spool VS the chance to wreck the car or even worse go into the next lane and god knows what would happen

Thanks

I have broken axles with a spool and it is not that bad...the car does not pull hard from my experience just feels like it has no momentum

It's not fun pushing a car with a spool.

Like rota said, Keep what you got as long as it holds.

I've had both (circuit worx spool and now a kaaz diff) and i cant tell the differance at the track and my 60 fts are almost identical (1.65s). Of course it is a lot easier on the street with the kaaz.

I've ran both a personally like the LSD. The spools are nice but its crazy trying to turn the car with slicks on. If that doesn't bother you then go either way. again, i wouldn't fix something that isn't broke either..

i snapped an axle right off the line with my quaife once and headed strait for the concrete divider where the tree was located, it was a wild ride. Its only done that once, my friends were like OH ****!!

Huh thats interesting.

I have snapped more axles than i care to admit right off the line and my car just came to a dead stop. Barely even broke the beams . . .

I've had some very scary times with a spool, I'd definitly reccomend getting an LSD. Even just for the sake of pushing the car an LSD is worth the extra money.

ive broke 3 in 4 years or so. 2 were just clean snaps, i think this one just broke really wierd and was just not breaking clean, it did it all inside the boot and i never took it apart to see how it broke.

On a spool though its a different story. All the power is going to go straight to the other side that is still intact. Thats where alot of the people comment that they head for walls going down the track. In most cases the axle is going to snap inside the 330 but its not to say it cant happen anywhere on the track. If you get off the throttle in time there isn't much to worry but if you stay into it your going for a ride . Where on a LSD when the diff breaks most cases it just free revs the motor.

i would have to believe a spool would cut a 60ft better just cause a my quaif seems to let 1 tire spin for split second. thus causing both tires being more prone 2 breaking loose.
& spool should b a dead even hook as long as your loading down on the trans.

correct me if i am wrong but thats how i look at it
