Question about 4cyl 6th gen rear engine mount.
It's a 2001 Accord coupe, 4cyl w/ 5spd. transmission
I replaced my rear engine mount today, now front and rear are new, and totally filled with touroughly dried out urethane sealant. Stiff as *****..
Now, in my factory manual, wich is for 98-00 accords, the rear engine mount doesnt have that beefy metal part on the top of it, wich must weight more than 5 pounds and looks like some sort of metal bumpstop..
For some reasons, wich are pretty stupid (okay, i "forgot" to put it back on and when i realised it, i didnt want to do it again) i did not install it.
Now i know that Honda engineers would not put something on that's not needed, especially regarding cost issues.. The question is, what the *** is it for? The way i see it, it's a "stopper" in case the mount tears, or the bolt breaks..So that the block bracket stops on it, before the intake manifold/throttle body smacks the firewall.. I seriously doubt it would have another use, since i cannot figure what other use a 5pound of solid metal shaped this way, bolted to the top of an engine mount is for.
Now i'll try observing the engine while it's being cranked up to see what kind of play it gets, to get an idea. I just want to make sure i will not screw anything up..
BTW; filling your mounts with urethane makes them really stiff. My car is shaking like it has parkinson @ idle

Oh yeah, for those wondering;
this is a phucked up job, probably the worst i have ever done on this car. I'll change my timing belt anyday before i do this thing again..
