d15z1 block help
hey guys i got the famous d15z1 in my hatch ...
im planning on putting a d16z6 head on the z1 block . i was wondering
if i can put d16z6 or d16y8 pistions in .. but what im really wondering
is can i put the d16z6 or d16y8 pistons on my d15z1 connecting rods or
can i just put the d16 pistions/connecting rods in that block .. thanks

the d15z1 block and crank are the same as the VTEC d15b. So the rods are the same length as all of the d16 rods, but if I'm not mistaken the piston's compression height is about 3mm shorter.
The z6 piston would be out of the hole I believe, which might be fine.

WRONG
True---The z1 does use 137mm rods, but the journal diameter is the the same as all other USDM d15's. (i.e. you cannot use z6 rods or crank in the z1 block)

pistons should be sticking out of the hole ~3mm...which im not sure is safe or not. you can basically do what i did with my D15B, PMS pistons from the civic GX. as long as you swap on the z6 head also, this setup will be fine.
if you stick to this set up, dont expect to make alot of power. if im not mistaken, theres no VX rods in the aftermarket. that means relying on those stock rods.
