Engine block question.
I'm looking to do a turbo vitaras setup and wanted to know the differences between a d15b7 BLOCK, a d16z6 BLOCK, and a d16y8 BLOCK.
I have access to a d15b7 block and could get a z6 or y8 head (To do a mini-me). By doing a mini-me would that be the equivalent of having d16y8 or d16z6 in the first place? What are the detailed differences between them? Is the crank weaker? Oil pump doesn't flow as much etc?
Rods and pistons will be replaced anyhow... just the other differences.
thanks

The connecting rods are different, different length and journal size. The only aftermarket rods available for them are from Crower... $726.02. That should be enough of a difference to just buy a different engine.

Are you sure about that? FJT sells rods for 339$? http://fjdistributors.com/prod...d=270
I just don't if the crank is the same on a d15b7 as a d16.

I'm sure they are different. The reason it's says "d15/d16" on the link, is because they work on the JDM D15B VTEC engine as well, since it shares the same rods as the D16Z6. The cranks are different as well, hence the rods' journal size being different, it's smaller on the B7 rods. At one point FJT was going to have custom D15B7 rods made, but I haven't read any new news in quite a while.
