Default IACV Problem solved.....

Since expo I've been having surging idle problems, original post- https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2325797

Steps I took....
http://autumnatic.org/IACV/IACV-1.pdf

Plus.....
If your idle is above 550, check for vacuum leaks. Take the intake off, put your finger over the lower port in the throttle body. if the idle doesnt drop, check for vacuum leaks, make sure the throttle valve is closed completely.
if the idle does drop, adjust the idle speed. if you cannot adjust, replace IACV.

If the engine speed drops or stalls, adjust the (base) idle speed, clean the ports in the throttle body as necessary. if the engine speed doesnt drop, or doesnt stall, replace IACV.

Took old IACV off.....

Camera phone pic

While it was off I jumped the connector and checked to see if it was functioning properly....it wasnt.

So I concluded that the IACV was at fault. Ordered parts from Len.....gottem

Replaced IACV. While the car was down I replaced some more things....
All hoses that coolant travels
Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket
Samco Intake Tube
And obviously fresh coolant

Carnage on something sharp under the IM.....camera phone pic

After install

The test drive....camera phone pic

Home......

This passed weekend I replaced an Excedy clutch with less than 30k on it in my friends car........30k!!!! Will be talking to excedy about how this happens....

Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine has lasted about 30k so far. Guess we'll see how long it goes, but Im really happy with it.

If I can find one, my next clutch will definitely be an ATS carbon

I've been thinking of new clutches for 107, I'd like something with the stock pedal feel....

Happy 4th, Erik.

I'v been searching, this is one of the few sites I have been able to find it. Similar to the Toda clutch kit, the 1k price tag includes a lightweight flywheel.
Suja 1 Motoring They are located in Illinois. Anyone recommend them?

"D" installed mine in the car that was stolen a few years back.

Its also something I mentioned to the Detective that was dealing with the "punk" who got caught with my "#151" motor/tranny in his civic!

Thats the same thing that mine was doing, but could be a number of things. If you check the IACV like I posted above, you'll be able to tell if yours is indeed malfunctioning....

I always made it a good practice to spray the IACV with Brake Clean while I had it off, clean her up a bit.

Nice, 2 R's in the garage, are you just storing that black one? I coulda sworn you sold a Black R?
