Default v-tec a non vtec motor

straight forward question can you put vtec on a non vtec motor if you can what all does it involve and what parts would i need and average price of parts

yes you can.

It's called a mini-me swap. Check the FAQ and search for mini-me. There are countless threads that can get you started in the right direction.

Depends on the motor but most all can be fit up with a vtec system. Depending on motor you are talking about different things are needed.


So what motor do you have in what car?

What exactly is your motor code?

Assuming it's the a6, look for a mini me.

if it's a twin cam ZC you might have some issues.

look behind your radiator, where the tranny meets the block. Should look something like this:

I'm assuming you have a d16a6. You'll need a d16z6 vtec head from a 92-95 civic, gaskets, timing belt, valve cover.

I hope you know what this means. my left tag says L3-1225604 and the right says ZC 6006359 i have no idea.

as long as its a SOHC zc you can do a vtec head on it. i use to have a sohc zc block with a d16z6 head on it but it blew a couple weeks ago and im running a d16z6 now. the swap is called a mini me. search it and u will find answers
