Do not buy online! find a used motor in your area and do compression test/ or go to a local shop and have them find an engine for you so they can assume some responsibility.

And how do you suppose he perform a compression test on a pulled motor?

The shop idea is a decent idea if you got lost of cash. Most shops won't warranty the work unless they install the motor. But that will cost an arm and a leg, plus the shop will markup the cost of the motor substantially.
