Default ctr pistons in b16a1?

i am looking at purchasing some b16b pistons for my first gen b16a, and i was just making sure they would fit. my friend was wondering if the bores on the 2 differing blocks were the same. also what will i need to do this swap? i know i need rod bearings, rings, wrist pins, but what else? thanks

yes they will fit, all b-series, save for the b20b/z are the same 81mm bore. howover i would recommend having your bores cleaned up by goign .25mm over (this can be done by any decent machine shop) and going with .25mm over pistons. while you have the bottom end apart you have the chance to have your crank polished and balanced, to replace rod and main bearings, rod bolts, and head bolts. i would not advise you to use your old parts when putting your motor back together, but u surely can if you want they should work just fine. just remember there is a cheap way to do things and then there is a proper way, sometimes they agree and sometimes they dont.

you have to shave a part off the rods too. Do a search it has been talked about many times.

Yes you have to machine 1mm off both sides of the rod. The B16B piston has a narrower opening for the rod then the b16a has. I have these pistons in my motor, with stock rods. It runs great but prepare to run race fuel. I mix 4gal Cam 2 110 octane race fuel to 6gal 92 octane. I highly recomend running some kind of engine management along with this setup. I am running a VAFC with 450cc DSM injectors. I found a ton more power once I adjusted the VAFC. It felt like tremendous waste of money before I adjusted it. I haven't dynoed it yet but after I get the head done this winter it will see the dyno next spring.
