Default pump assist air?

inside the left front bumper is device labeled pump assist air on my 2000 s2000. what the heck is this.. its getting in the way of my turbo install. can i do away with this?

It's the secondary air pump. You do not need it. However, if you are using a stock ECU, you will throw a CEL.

if you're running a stock ecu with a turbo, the secondary air pump is the least of your problems

is there anyway i can fix the check engine light and have it off?

does it throw a check engine light or is it the EPS thing i now see on the dash?

It throws a CEL.

I didn't want the check engine light on so i couldn't simply remove it.. it was getting in the way of the pipping from the intercooler

so this is what i did, I removed the metal "frame" that latches the device to the car, I cut some plastc out and squished it in, but i had to unhook the hose that goes to the intake. So i got one of the really tiny air filters and stuck it on the end of that opening and problem solved. but the device is just sitting on the inside of the bumper not really attached to anything. But no CEL

If you have a check engine light from it you're not running the proper fuel management. My AEM has not produced any CEL's after completely removing it.
