what is the air pump for? is it usefull for anthing? do you take it off? or do you just need it for emissions? thanks

 

it is there as an emissions device. it pumps fresh air into the 'exhaust' to reduce emissions and heat up the cat faster.

if you remove/disconnect it, the only way to get rid of the CEL is by going to a stand alone engine management.

a lot of people get rid of it when boosting an s2k due to it getting in the way of the inter cooler piping .. it will throw a cell if removed
