Question about going from 5spd. to Automatic. Yes Stick to Automatic.
Hi there, I am a newbie here and I got a question thats many people are gonna be upset about. I have a 93 Hatchback that is 5spd. My lil bro is turning 16 and i wanna give him my old honda for his first car because it has always treated me well. the thing is he don't wanna learn to drive standard right away. I am wondering if it is a bolt up swap to put an automatic in the car. Like what things would i need or run into in doing this swap? I know this is a backwards type of thing but would appreciate any help!
automatic tranny, automatic tranny mount, automatic ecu, automatic shift linkage, automatic shifter assembly, automatic flywheel, automatic engine and dash harness "including ignition switch", hmmmmm what else "im brain farting"....

I would try to convince him to learn to drive a manual. It's nothing to be afraid of LOL...
The worst that could happen is that he burns up the clutch, or at the very worst he grenades the tranny

LMAO @ grenades the tranny..
to him for that one...
Yeah also dude think about it, manual = better gas mileage..!! You could teach him no doubt in one full week of training... If I could teach a 72 year old woman to ride a motorcycle "miss my job at Harley
" than i'm sure you could teach an rambunctious 16 year old the rules of the road when it comes to 5 speed lol....

If you want to swap into a auto you might as well buy a new car. Honestly would be cheaper and save your self the headache swaping to a 5 speed it cake cause you dont have screw with the harness'
