Default 3500 rpm problem

i have a 6th gen with aprox. 48,000 miles on it. i've never had any problems mechanically til a week ago. here's the problem. in first gear just after starting up and letting idle for about five mins to warm up ( my normal routine) i'll get in and take off in first gear. everything is fine until i hit 3500 rpms, when i hit that rpm my car seems like it doesn't want to accelerate anymore, but when i punch it it goes back to normal for the rest of the drive, and then it does the same thing all over again when i start it back up and go somewhere else. u guys have any clue to what could be causing this? i drive my car hard on a regular basis. any input would be helpful.

it doesnt sound like some simple mechanical problem...sounds to me like either a computer problem or a valve problem.

what is that!? i'm sure i don't drive my car any harder than any of u guys. u must think that i redline every time i drive my car which isn't the case. let me put it this way i don't drive like the grandma next door. thx for replies. i had my valves checked and reset to spec but that didn't solve my problem, i put some fuel system cleaner in and that didnt work either. any more ideas would be appreciated.

thats weird - does it bog or what? explain this lack of exceleration. is it like your fuel cuts out? or you bog from to much gas?

no thats what i don't understand. its like when i hit 3500 i hit like a lull. it only does it the when i first start to take off then it doesn't do it any more. it kinda feels like when ur goin in 1st at about 4000 rpms then u suddenly take ur foot of the gas and u get that jerky feeling then i punch it and everything is fine.

I have seen this type of issue with vtec 4 cylinders. (I don't know anything about the 6cyl cars, So take this how you want.) If your car is doing this under warm-up conditions (only) then it may be related to oil pressure. If I start my engine up and try to get it to go into VTEC before it reaches operating temp, it will just bog and fail to engage VTEC. Is it possible that this is occuring at the VTEC transition? (again this is a 4cyl) Does your car have this issue after warm-up?

Mine does it mainly after warm-up.
This is with the H22, not an F22.
I will be in 3rd..at 3500 and let off the gass, and it feels really jerky and boggs.
Took it to 3 machanics, nobody figured it out.

WISH I COULD FIX THIS DAMN THING!!!

Hmmmmm

Im guesssing you are not thorwing any codes?

I would check out your EGF Valve. See if theres anything clogging it.

It wouldn not hurt if you gave your car the basic tuneup (cap, rotors, plugs) Mybe it can be somthing as simple as that.

sorry it took me so long to respond to ya'lls answers i work long 12 hour night shifts. anyway, i don't have a 6cyl i have the four w/vtec (f23), and i dont have a vafc. it does it when i first start driving when i shift into second the problem isn't as noticeable, but in first gear i'll have my foot on the gas but i get a jerky feeling as u would get if u just took ur foot of the accelerator abruptly. i've had all my normal tune ups and oil changes, i use mobil1 synthetic.

i wish i could fix this problem its very annoying.

an f23 in an accord? i heard that the f23 from someone else on the board said that it didnt have enough torque for the accord because it has more weight than it can handle well. that might be why you feel it pulling or something.

huh? the f23 comes stock in all 6th gen accords(except for the 6cyl). i don't understand what u are saying. i have plenty of torque. and its not pulling, its bogging out at 3500 rpms or hits a lull, whatever u want to call it.
