quick cooling question.
You will lose any fluid that can find its way out, so a partial drain may be good, and have a drain pan under the car for sure! Why not take the excuse and do a full change though? Coolant isn't good forever.
just put a big catch pan under the car....when you take off the top rad hose you will only lose what is in the hose and maybe a little from the head. I wouldnt drain it at all. Especially since you just replace the coolant.
Yeah, you don't have to drain it all, but to keep things cleaner and make clean-up easier I would drain a good amount from the radiator drain into a bucket. Then you won't spill it everywhere when you take the hose off and you can just poor it back in from the bucket when you're done.
