Default CRX with avid shift linkage issues

I recently swapped a lsvtec into my rex using innovative mounts and avid shift linkage. The shifter sits at a weird angle and the way its in 1st, it looks like it should be in 3rd. It seems the whole shifter is too far to the right. It hits the center console before it hits 5th and reverse so it is really hard to hit those gears. The shifter is at the right bend, but could the whole shifter assembly need flipped around? Take the bottom bolt out of shifter and the 2 upper ones and flip it around?

try swapping the rubber piece where the ball goes into with an OEM one.
