hey im getting ready to put in my block guard for my b20 an i was wondering if tapping it in with a rubber mallet would be ok i know some people weld them in but i dont think i have the resources to do so, thanks i would like to get this done and over with i just dont wanna mess anything up

ps obviously i know that welding it in would be better

It needs to be perfectly level....everywhere. You will not be able to do that, no matter what you think.
A machine shop needs to install it, then hone the cylinders, and then inspect the decking.

If you do not get it straight, it will expand during the heat cycle in an awkward fashion and warp the block's mating surface.

Dont bother with it, return it or sell it on ebay. They do so much more harm than good.
They do not provide you with anything but expenses. It will not let you make more power. It will not stiffen your cylinders. It is old technology that has proven to be pointless.

x2, I am currently building up my buddies c5 and when mentioned to my tuner who I have massive respect for said the same thing. It will just cause more problems then help. if you really want a strong block its like a 1g to get it sleeved through eagle. I know that isnt cheap but sometimes the peace of mind is worth it, but then again it depends on how you are building it.

also i have read that they restrict coolent flow so the top portions of your cylinder get hot
