I have a question...I have a B16A1 engine. I blew the tranny and got a B18 LS tranny and swapped the gears from B16 to B18. Now when I drive it it whines like it is in reverse. Does anyone know why it would do this? you can feel it in the shifter **** and it gets whines higher and higher the faster you go....let me know please....thanks

 

what's the codes on the two trannys you have?

you driving around with a b16 output shaft and a LS ring gear in your tranny?

Dont think I can help you out in your problem...but I just noticed you live in my birth town!

 

well we used the a B18 differential and took my B16 gears (the whole stacks) and put them in place of the B18 stacks

 

most b16 ring gears have 66 teeth. 90-91 ls ring gears have 64 teeth and both countershafts have 15 teeth.
however,the angle of the teeth on both countershafts are different.
i think the teeth on your ring gear aren't meshing properly with the teeth on the countershaft.

im not sure on the codes of the tranny I'd have to go to the garge where my b16 tranny is at The B18 tranny has a sticker that says A1 or is there somewhere else on the tranny where the code is at? where would it be? if it would be ok, could you leave your phone number so i can call you and find this out quicker? This is the first tranny we have ever taken apart.
