why does my a/c smell so bad?
how can i fix this?

 

what does it smell like? maybe theres a leak somewhere.

 

It's mildew that builds up in the or vents. If you don't cycle the cold air out, condensation will build up in the vents. Before you turn off your car, you should turn off the a/c about 1-2 minutes prior and leave the vent on to cycle the air out. Also the recirculate vent function will add to this problem.

If it does smell like urine though it could be that some fvcking cat sprayed your HVAC air intake right below the passenger side wiper.

check the drain plug on the bottom of the car, it it is plugged you are gonna have to unplug it

When you park your car after the ac is running do you get water under the car?

i found the problem. its my evaporator. it smelled like **** when i got to it. i flushed it out wit water. its all good now.

 

how do u take that out or where is it located at? I'd like to know how to take apart the AC sys to clean it up and stuff.

I already turn off the a/c before I stop the car and turn it back to fresh air if it already wasn't on there.

 

you literally have to take apart the venter console and almost the whole dash to get to that thing

 

I should do that with mine... even though I use it so infrequently, it's smelled pretty nasty recently...

 

I had a similar problem with bad smelling A/C, but not like Sh!et...honda dealer just change the filter and it has been perfec ever since...

i had a similar thing happen to me on my accord. turns out it was not the car's problem but actually those liquid air fresheners i bought (ironic, yes)...guess the heat of the sun causes the thing to have some chemical reaction...so when i turn on the a/c, it smelled like crap...but then i had to get my air filter changed too...

 

I dunno maybe the 6th gens have some HVAC filter I don't think any earlier cars do.

 

I didn't know there was one either. If so I'd like to know about it.
