just wanted to ask around to see what everyone thinks on what i should run for boost on my stock b16. i'm running 6 psi right now but i'd like to run 8-10 psi. would i be able to boost 8 psi on a stock b16 with no troubles or should i just stick to 6 psi until i build the motor up a bit.
also is there any easier way to adjust boost other than a boost controller. i gotta go to college in september and just try to find cheaper ways to do stuff now. i know a boost controller would be a lot better but if there's a way to change boost without a controller that would be great.

*sigh*
In short, assuming you have a common turbo or standard bolt on kit.
Yes, you can. Yes, you will need to tune for it. Just use an MBC. If you don't want a boost controller, buy a bigger spring for your wastegate. If you don't have an external wastegate, use an MBC.
And, for the record. Next time you want to ask a similar question, click the big red search button.

sorry. i've got greddy e-manage and i know if i increase the boost i'll need to get it re-tuned. what would you say is the max psi i should run on a stock b16? i was told i should be getting a new head gasket and studs right away though. is this true?
what i would do is get a wideband and ebc or mbs depending on your funds.
im sure turning the boost up wont hurt anything but thats what your wideband is for incase you need to make an adjustment to your a/f
but if your asking about that i think i would research and as someone said search button

Will if it's completely stock, I would get Head studs. I wouldn't suggest raising the boost until you either
A. Get it tuned for higher boost
B. Get a Manual boost controller, or electronic boost controller.
I would still get it retuned if you want to raise the boost, and get a wideband also. Better safe than sorry.

so it sounds like all i need to do is head gasket and studs and i should be good for 8-10 psi? after this summer i will be doing a complete re-haul of the motor i just don't wanna blow it up by running 10 psi.
