Gsr transmission pops out of reverse
I went to back up my car today and it just keeps popping out of reverse. I goes like 3ft and pops out everytime. The werid thing is no other gears have problems just reverse I can shift 1-5 perfect, but cant back up. What could it be? Anyone ever have this problem?
dogginator: I have solid mound inserts. I also filled the rest up with windshield urethane. So the should be stiff.
Mr_moos: yes if I hold it back it will work but makes a crunch every few seconds(when it would have popped out if I wasnt holding it). What was off just a little?
Thanks for input from both of you guys!

Check the shift linkage first. The "crunch" could indicate internal issues.

Just a thought, but I had an issue similar to this a few years ago. Turns out, my transmission fluid partially drained during a clutch replacement and I never topped it back off. She was a little low, apparently. A simple drain and refill with Honda manual fluid and the issue went away completely.
Might be something to check. Good luck.

It is the first thing I would check.
What year is your GS-R?
"it will work but makes a crunch every few seconds"
Not something I would want to hear in my car, a tick maybe.
I would hope it was just a bent selector fork, and possible even if all other gears work properly... #1 http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acur...s=&view=normal but I'm thinking something more terminal.
Drain transmission oil into a pan, the drain plug should have a magnet on it, are there metal shavings on the magnet or in the pan?
You can also see how much "tranny fluid" was in it and it can't hurt to change it anyway.
If you have not already, get a look at your shift "linkage"... http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acur...s=&view=normal ids in good working order. 94
I have a similar problem to this on my b18c integra. what is the best thing to do in order to fix it? It's really annoying and every time I try to reverse it make a strange loud sound like it grinding! I hope you guys can help me . Thanks!
