d16z6 swap in ek civic SEARCHED
swaping in a obd1 z6 in a ek. couple questions. 1) what exactly do i have to do with the dizzy, ive read that the stock ek dizzy will work and ive read that it wont work? can i just cut off the plug and solder on obd2 plug on the obd1 dizzy, can i swap the guts of the obd2 dizzy and put it in the obd1 dizzy? 2) im confused i think i read that you have to do something with the iacv? correct me if im wrong

sweet thanks i got another question i was looking at a diagram that shows you the pins to wire vtec and i understood it but the vtec pressure sensor is a 2 prong plug and on the diagram theres only one pin for it in the ecu? so im guessing that one is ground? if so does it matter which one i ground?
thanks again

To wire Vtec, make sure the blue/black wire is your ground... The red wire runs to the D plug "vtec pressure switch", and the green/yellow wire runs to the A plug "vtec solenoid"...
It honestly doesn't matter which one you use for the ground, but that's how I always wired it up and have never encountered any issues... It's just a switch so either way it's gonna get power ya kno..

yea i know wut you mean. i dont have to run the ground back to the ecu right? i can just ground it on the engine. i bought i jumper harness and im using the p28 ecu
Yeah man any ground will do... To your benefit just find one close as possible to the actual solenoid so you're not running wire all across your engine, thats for cleanliness purposes only lol...
yep ***** gotta be clean. whats the difference between a obd2a and obd2b jumper harness's?. all this info is for my buddies car that were swaping 2marro, but i have a 2000 si with a high comp ls vtec and a obd1 ecu and i got a jumper harness with the ecu but i dont know if its an obd2b jumper?

he asked the difference not the years...
OBD2A
OBD2B

Plugs arent the same, signifying that some of the wires would not be in the same places on either/or....
This might help your friend out a little bit... https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=558245
"The only main difference in engine bay is the distributor but there are some other small wiring differences that make it more simple to just use the correct harness or adapter"..

yea right after i asked whats the difference i was looking through hondata's website, and i have a 0bd2a jumper which will work for my buddies car but not mine. we got the motor in and i ran into a couple problems the obd2 dizzy wouldnt bolt up so i swaped the guts and it bolted up. so far all i got to do for the wiring is convert the 3 wire iacv plug to a 2 wire, and lengthen the tps sensor. thanks for all the help
