Default Mod's to '04 Accord?

Hello all,

I just hit 86,500 miles on my '04 Accord EX-L (bought it new) - the car is running perfectly. With gas prices the way they are, I think I will be holding onto this baby for a while longer, as I get 27 MPG (City /HWY combined). I was wondering what type of modifications I can add to this car? Does anyone have a list?

i.e. better gas mileage, fog lights, heated mirrors, light up the steering wheel, a new computer chip to increase power??

Thank you..

Nothing much to do to increase gas mileage. You can get hybrid mirrors, they're heated I believe. I'm not sure what you mean about "light up the steering wheel". There is no "computer chip" there are a few piggyback engine management systems (EMS) that will all cost you a solid chunk of change and I wouldn't suggest if you are modding it from stock.

There is no "list". There are numerous thing you can do, how serious do you want to get? You can turbo or supercharge, build up the motor, or just leave it with simple bolt-ons.

Hi msedacca,

What I mean by "light up the steering wheel" is that on the '03 and '04 models, Honda neglected to light up the steering wheel when you put the lights on. You will see that when it's dark out and you flip on the headlight switch, the steering wheel is completely dark. None of the buttons on it light up..
I always thought there were after market computer chips that could be bought to improve on power...no? I do not want to do anything like turbo or supercharge the motor. I'm into small improvements.
Any idea the cost on the Hybrid mirrors? What about fog lights?

First off, I'm going to point you in the direction of my forum, http://www.gen7accord.com. There are hundreds of DIY's and product reviews of this kind of thing. If you're really interested in the things you say you are, become a member on there and look around, or ask any of the resident gurus on there (im big with engines/FI/aftermarket stuff).

As far as the steering wheel goes, I've never seen or heard of anyone doing that kind of thing. But, if you post it up on the forum, you'll more than likely get someone to answer about it.

There are no aftermarket "chips", but judging by your outlook, I'll figure you'll want something like this:

Greddy E-manage (blue or ultimate)
AEM FIC (fuel controller)
Haltech any model
or AFC (not familiar with it)

All of these are piggyback systems will cost you under 400 dollars to buy and are virtually plug and play with the correct adapter harness. For a small price, a tuner can do a base tune on that so you will see additional gains. I use Kpro, which has many more facets, but granted I use much more variables than you would with just your basic bolt-ons. A friend of mine built a custom harness to make it work, Hondata has not figured it out yet.

For the Hybrid mirrors. After a quick further research, Hybrid mirrors can be anything, such as the JDM Inspire, or USDM TSX.

For fog lights, it will depend on you car. If you have a coupe with the option of putting fog lights in, then it makes life a lot easier. However, if you have a sedan, or a coupe without a normal lip, then you will either need to hack away, or get the OEM upgrade for your front lip.

But, like I said earlier, you can find everything you need on the website I gave you. If you need any help, feel free to AIM me or PM me on that site, my name is msedacca over there too. The H-T PM system doesn't work very well for me, so AIM works better. Msg me if you need any help whatsoever.
