Default 03 Accord LX Gas Mileage PROB!

I just recently bought an 03 LX and I noticed that my mileage is horrible. I filled up about 2 weeks ago to a full tank. I've drive 170 miles and I have about 40% left. Anyone know what may be causing the bad mileage? It cannot be driving because I dont drive it hard. I've averagining about seriously 15 miles per gallon as of now.

hey buddy, those traffic light are a killer in bklyn...same here in the bx. But when I go up to westchester the mileage will increase. Make sure you have your airfilter cleaned and are there any check engine lights on your car....Might want to increase the tire pressure. Hopefully it works out. also 200 to half is good.

Could be a number of things. Start a fuel log and see if it fluctuates. If it remains poor, start looking at some prev maint.

I actually go to school in Buffalo and idk why the mileage is just horrible. Im gonna go get an oil change and new filters soon and hopefully that might help but I really have no clue as to why its so bad. I dont drive that fast, I dont hit that many lights. I've just increased my tire pressure but they seem uneven now so I might do that tomorrow and check that outs. any other suggestions?

You could have an o2 sensor that's going bad. Gas mileage goes bad right before they fail. But don't just replace it. Either wait a few weeks for the check engine light to go on or test the sensor.

get the part from Autozone its about 100ish they have a loaner tool that you can rent for free (payfor it and then return it for your money back) This part is the easiest part to change unplug the O2 then slide the socket thru the open end turn left to lossen. I wouldnt change it for now. oil and check the air filter first. The O2 will bring a check engine light on which you dont have yet.

lol thanks. yeah Im gonna wait and fill up another time and see how the mileage is first before I decide to do anything. However I spoke to some Honda mechanics yesterday and apparently in Buffalo, NY gas is now mixed with 10% ethanol which might be causing the bad gas mileage. He also suggested waiting a bit because no engine light is on but he said it could be due to the filter as well.
