i want to measure what amount of backpressure my exhaust system makes, so i was thinking of temporarily hooking it up to my defi boost gauge, but im concerned that the hot exhaust gasses will melt the innards of my defi boost sensor. anybody done this before?
It will be fine as long as you hook about 2 feet of cooper line up to the exhaust and your guage. This will dissipate the heat. Make sure you make several coils in the copper line so it does not read all kinda spiky.
Are you sure about copper? I was almost thinking steel, more to prevent heat from transfering from the manifold connection, rather than via the gas. I was looking into this previously, but nobody really said what guys like the supra folk use. Also, should it be 1/8" or 1/16"?
Either will work I use copper on my daily driver. It is on the car 24/7 and works just fine. In the last 3 weeks I have been about 5 ,000 miles with it on the car. I have also been using the same set up for the last 13 years when I am doing turbo testing. Never have I had a issue.

turbodano, just for clarification, what kind of boost gauge did you use and what kind of psi did you see? my copper tube is only about a foot long and its just a straight tube, im not sure if it'll shed enough heat
One last thing, what's the max rated temp for your pressure sensor? The one I plan to use is 240F max, and the only higher temp-rated sensors aren't for pressure.
