Since tearing into my car for my manual swap i have been buying and changing out things that don't work with my car anymore.

The next thing i need to work out is my suspension - I have it dumped about 3 inches on 60 dollar ebay springs and stock shocks - they MUST go. They have been on for a long time no blown shocks but the car obviously rides like $#it!

I''m wondering if I can buy some skunk2 pro shocks and reuse my coilovers. I know it would be beneficial to buy a complete set of coilovers and shocks but i'm on a budget. I can get shocks for 250 - 300. Will i really notice a major difference with expensive coilovers on the skunk2 shocks?

The skunk2 shocks are STIFF. Pretty stiff, so if there's uneven road or bumpy roadway, you'll definately notice it. But smooth roads and in the corners you'll be glad to have a better suspension setup.

 

as it is now on the coilovers and stock shocks it hits hard over bumps and i can't imagine it being worse you know? I've hated it ever since i realized what good suspension feels like. maybe the tokicos would be better.... It's a 96 EJ 4door with a y7 FYI.

Do you want a comfy ride or good handling? If you want both, be prepared to shell out a chunk of cash.

 

i just bought the sport shocks and they are coming today actualy .. from my research and what everyone says if your ride is bouncy now the better strut will help take care of that but it will be stiff.. the skunk2 sport shocks are good cuz they are actually shorter than stock to accomodate the lowering springs/coilovers. if bouncing is your issue the sport shocks should help for a fairly cheap fix

 

and also just to throw it out there with smart ebay bidding i was able to get both the skunk2 lowering springs and sport shocks for $335 including shipping so for a lil more than you are looking to spend you could get a quality spring unless you want/need the adjustability of coilovers

 

Well I do want a comfy ride but i want to maintain my slammed look on 16's - I hear a ton of good things about the Koni Yellows.... if i wrapped up so koni shocks with my current coiolvers would i get a comfy ride? I don't want to shell out 300 or more bux for the ground control coilovers that most HT guys mention to use on Koni's
