how to remove engine suppliers writing on valve cover
I did a b series swap a while back ago and the valve cover has some writing in yellow on the valve cover from the importer. what would be the best way to remove it from a b series valve cover w/o damaging the paint. I searched and only found one topic which had one reply to just repaint valve cover.
Usually, all you need is a little carb cleaner, brake clean, or acetone on a rag. Soak the rag and wipe the writing off.
no no no on the acetone, it will eat your paint too. Get some LABEL REMOVER from your local parts store, get the "go-gone" not the "goof -off" the latter eats paint, the go-gone does not. The importers, dealers use whats called a paint pen, it'll take it right off without damaging your paint.
Duh, for some reason I was thinking unfinished D series cover... Yeah, it kinda sucks to get the stuff off of the wrinkle coat. A little engine cleaner and a pressure washer should do the trick, too.

Hrm...
Well, I've never tried this, but... let's reason it out!
The marker they used was probably a roller/ball tipped 'paint pen' - loaded with yellow enamel paint, right? Maybe yes - maybe no.
So, what I would *try* is fingernail polish remover!
Fingernail polish is made of enamel paint, and fingernail polish remover has to be powerful enough to remove enamel paint, but weak enough not to eat acrylic plastic, i.e. fake fingernails, or the glue that holds them on... yada, yada, yada.
Anyway, that's what I would try...
