Default painting valve cover.

Im thinking about painting my b16 valve cover and was wondering what I should use to remove the paint, I heard aircraft works good .. and it's cheaper than sand blasting.

The other thing I also wanted to know once you remove the old crap off the valve cover, do you just spray paint the letters black, cover it up once its dry with masking tape, and then spray over the valve cover whatever color you want ?

aircraft remover works great, don't use the home depot stuff it's really weak. get some from an autozone, advanced, pepboys, etc. as far as the letters go, everyone has their own way of doing it. try your way and see how it goes. i typically shave the letters back to metal after painting that way it looks somewhat factory.

Aircraft remover works well. You'll need to use about a can of it, and then you use a paper towels to remove the congealed paint and a wire brush and sandpaper to get off the stubborn paint. Then you need to polish the head a bit with sandpaper in order to get a good finish. If you don't get a nice smooth finish the paint will look crappy.

i hope you have lots of simple green on hand. when i did mine, i had to soak it for hours in that crap and just keep scrubbing it with a toothbrush.
