i got a 98 civic and i have a problem.. i drive the car and it seems like it sputters out when i give it gas..especially past 3000 rpm.. it seems like its boggin out bad.. i mean it idles fine and dosent smoke or nohtnig.,, somebody please help me

 

is it throwing any codes?

 

check engine light is on ..sombody said it could be the cat.. its got a magnaflow cat on it...idkk

Based on your description I think its the cat too because I had the same problem. Bad cat caused back pressure, causing engine to choke after 2500rpm. But get the code checked out asap to know for sure.

 

would that do it all at once it seems like a week ago it was fine...and where is my mass airflow.. somebody told me to take it out and clean it

 

ahha..u dont have a mass air flow(maf sensor)...u have a manifold absolute pressure(map sensor)...and u dont clean the map sensor

 

i know now.. but i checked the codes..its not showin no codes..i think it might be cat..casue i just drove it and like its fine when im drivin kinda slow... i was gettin on it and seems like when i punch the gas real quick it putters out... and then if i hold it it will catch and go back to no sputterin........

its a o2 sensor..that wouldnt make it do that

 

Well you are actually wrong. The O2 sensor causes problems like that. Replace the O2 sensor first and if that don't fix it then get back to us. Believe me I had my O2 go out and that **** made my car bogg like hell.

You asked for help and it has been given to you. If you can't take a suggestion then don't post here. Evryone here will tell you to replace the O2 first and if that don't fix it then comeback. But it seems you aint able to hear suggestion, so good luck to you on figuring it out

i gota d16z6 i swapped a y8 head on it and it did the same **** but it was the wrong cam gear throwin out the time

You know what I have the same problem too rite now..code 65 & 91. How many o2 does the y8 have?
