brief loss of power while cruising...
ok im a little stumped on how my car. heres the story. last weekend i was cruising down the freeway coming from atwater area to norther cali in my LS/V crx. i was cruising goin about 75-85mph when all of a sudden i feel my car loosing power. i glance at my gauge cluster to see that both my speedometer and tachometer begin to drop, as if i was pressing on the brakes. so i step on the gas pedal, then my car jerks slightly and goes back to normal. about 5 mins pass and the car does it again so this time i downshift and it goes away. this problem continued for the next 20-30 mins till i got home. i had let the car sit and i checked everything out cap, rotor, wires, vacuum lines they all look good. i then drove it to work yesterday and today and for the brief 10 min drive back and forth to work, i dont see the problem return. does anyone know what might have caused this problem?? thanks in advance guys.
Hey, I hope this helps, my car did something similar to this aswell. First it was a vacuum line had collapsed on itself, and then second my TPS is shorting every now and then this causes the computer to read closed throttle and it backs off fuel.
Hope this helps, Cheers

Was there any fading of electrical power or stereo problems? I had my alternator go out on me during a trip from Florida to PA a few years back that had similar symptoms.
yea my LS/V is still obd0 if been meaning to convert to obd1, just ive been lazy about it. i had no loss of electrical problems stereo and lights all worked and functioned fine. it just felt like i was stepping on the brakes.

Check your TPS output with the throttle closed. Should be .45V Make sure nothing in that assembly is loose that could allow the TPS to move around.

I asked you if you were OBD0 because I experienced the same problem with my motor when I was OBD0 while driving on the turnpike or highway. I never experienced the problem during stop and go traffic. After I converted to OBD1 it went away. I dealt with the stupid problem for damn near 3 years and could never figure it out it would only happen once in a while though. I could drive 60 miles at 80mph and the car would be fine and then all of sudden I would lose power for like 10-20miles and then the car would go back to normal. It drove me nuts. It all relates back to the problem of only running one oxygen sensor and pig tailing the wires like a lot of people do.
This might be your problem or it might not, I figured I would just throw it out their because it sounded like the same problem I would dealing with before.

i think that may be the problem. i am running a chipped PR3 with stock setting just disabled knock sensor. i threw on my virgin PR3 and last night i had no problems. so ill see later on this week if it goes away. now ill just have to deal with a CEL for the knock senor. oh well. if it happens again ill have to do my obd1 conversion sooner than planned. thanks for the help guys.
I agree with the guy above that said "igniter in the dizzy" because my CRX did the exact same thing as in your description especially on longer rides (which gave the igniter more time to heat up).
