Default Oil burning problem UPDATE

B18c5 bottom end with b16a2 head.

In the last couple days it has started to go through oil quite a lot. Ive noticed some smoke at the top end of the rev range(no not fuel.. its significantly more than it ever has been. before the bit of puff was fuel...now its definitely oil)
Also, it smokes if I come to a light (come to a stop)....not just sitting though. Only if I rev it, and I dont have to rev high either...itll puff smoke. not blindly...just enough to see something. Also when I come to a stop I can smell burning oil(with my windows down). This has been happening the last 2 days.

I did a comp test. #'s like if you were standing infront of the car looking at the motor
220 210 190 190 I added some oil and got
220 240 245 245

boourns. Oil control rings? comp rings worn aswell?

My plugs seemed pretty white aswell. now I didnt shut it down after a pull..i shut it down after cruising...but its wierd. I recently changed my exhaust and the o2 was quite white aswell. Thinking im burning coolant...but i have no white smoke, no milkshake, and I have not lost any coolant. wierd. I was thinking headgasket... I dunno.

PCV valve?

This car is getting old and I was thinking of selling but now this comes up.

change the rings....or swap a diff bottom end in? I cant decide.

sounds like valve seals to me... i would check into that before you replace the engine!

valve seals are definitely an issue aswell....but I wouldnt think they would start pissing oil that badly, could they?

and I always thought if smoke was at start up that was valve seals...and if warm and/or running its your rings

Sounds more like rings to me. If it were valve seals, the compression wouldn't have changed with the addition of oil into the cylinders thru the sparkplug holes.

do a comp test, then retest with oil. PSI will increase NO MATTER the condition of the engine. yourself retard

now that is a good question. and you have me stumped for an answer i wish i was there.

i do think that since u are smoking at high RPM there might be a slight ring issue but that is to be expected with a 10 year plus old honda motor

do the valve seals (easy job) and see what happens.

if that doesnt help maybe try a tad thicker of an oil, 5w40 synthetic? lubro moly makes a GREAT oil

its easy to test your PCV valve as well, just pull off the hose, pull out the valve check it out
it will be obvious if it is clogged. check out the hoses too and make sure they are free flowing.

So, apparently the car has cut is consumption down a lot... its still burning some but its NOT smoking anymore nor is it going through oil like it did for those couple of days.

how in the heck is that possible? any ideas on whats going on?

Again, not 100% correct. If you add oil into the cylinders of an engine that has holes in the pistons, you're saying the compression will go up, right? Just trying to make sense of your statements. All I know is if you add oil thru the plug holes and the compression goes up, its your rings, and if it doesn't (and yes, sometimes it won't), either the rings are THAT bad or you have bad valve seats. Valve seals have NOTHING to do with compression.
