need help asap!!! check light, car miss fire at 4,000 RPM
ookay..heres the deal guys. my buddy brought over his 93 hatch with a jdm b16b, which he just bought, and we redid the hack job wiring that was done by the previous owner, which was vtec, and 02 wiring. then we took out the ecu, ecu fuse to reset the ecu, the ECU he had in there is a chip p28 with some program that we dont know what it is. my friend took out the chip out of the socket and plugs it back in and now we go plug in the ecu and we get check light, and the car would hit the rev limiter at 4,000 RPM just sitting and free revving it.
we tried jumping the cel but it would not blink at all. i grabbed a stock p28 and plugged it in and it revs free and still has the cel on. he drove it to his day report and call me and tells me it still miss fires. we are stumped. we tried plugging the chip the other way and does the same thing. does the chip erases it self when unplug from the socket? the car ran fine before, just the hack job wiring that we fixed and lead to this!! help out guys!! thanks in advance!!

i jumped the cel with my stock p28 it reads cel 10 which is IAT. does a bad IAT cause it to miss fire at 4,000 RPM?
The code 10 will not cause it to go into limp mode. It sounds like you either do not have the chip seated with the chipped ecu. Make sure you did not bend any of the pins when you took it out or put it back in.

Now that I re-read it.. the car was just misfiring at 4000 not hitting a limiter?

actually it wasnt misfiring, it was actually hitting the limiter at 4000. i should edit my post, but i got the situation fixed!! a new IAT solved the problem. the old one was burnt to ****, melted!!

Hm. That is definitely interesting.
Of all the times I have fixed an IAT code it has never caused the ecu to go into limp mode.

the same thing actually happened to my friends gsr swapped ek, the plug for the IAT was bad and caused it to go into limp mode, a new plug fixed it.
