Default apexi worldsport vs straight through custom exhaust

back in the day when i didnt know what i was doing i bought a 2.5" ebay exhaust for my d15 which actually measures to like a 2.4". wanted to get rid of the fart can so i got a vibrant 2.5 flat black straight through muffler put on. the tone was deeper, but got twice as loud so i had a 20" resonator put on. better, but still way too loud.

eventually got a new car, ej8, and im happy keeping the stock exhaust, but plan on going turbo and am planning out what i should do for exhaust. the apexi worldsport has good reviews for loudness/tone and is something i think i'd be happy with. i want something that i will barely be able to hear unless i start getting heavy on the pedal

custom
+ straight through (+ hp)
+ flat black
+ already paid for
- tone
- -100 for 2nd resonator
- -30 rust prevention

Apexi
+ tone
+ needs no further work
- $300-500
- restricted muffler
- steal muffler

what should i do H-T?

the WS2 is amazing sound wise for boost. i have it and all u hear is the turbo spool then the wastegate scream... but the downside is for performance, im replacing with a thermal r&d turbo catback. i read that it is a 10 whp difference because the WS2 is too restrictive...

other then that the WS2 is an amazing exhaust, great sound, look and price

how big of a turbo are you looking to run? something stock? or aftermarket?

I have the ws2 on my ej8 and i have no complaints. Looks great, performs great, and sounds very low toned.

I do agree with egmatt93, the ws2 might be too restrictive. For 96-00 civic applications, piping is only 2.25inchs (60mm). If your going turbo, you'll def. need a good high flowing muffler and go at least 2.5inchs on the piping diamater. Anything more than 2.5inches will probably make you lose power.

thinking about having a nice sounding exhaust excites me

maybe the vibrant will sound better once i tone down the volume.

I have the WS2 axleback and I LOVE it. Sounds like a very sexy OEM note...I imagine the full exhaust sounds even better.

Apex'i makes fantastic exhausts. My buddy had the full Apex'i N1 on his EF--a built D16A6 with I/H/E...I've never heard a D series sound better
