Default HELP...couple of possible PROBLEMS: 1) White smoke, 2) Low idle

Well, things are going great with my swap...but a few problems that may become big ones, but I'm only guessing so I'll ask the gurus for some advice.

1) I got white (some of my other friends said it's blue???) but white smoke coming out of my exhaust. It also smells like something is burning, but it just maybe the smoke coming out of the exhaust. What could it be? What needs to be done to remedy that? Could it be the beginning of a blown head gasket? Is it safe to drive? The engine was also sitting for a bit so could it be the old oil in the engine residue getting burned up/out?

2) The car idles kinda low at around 500-600 and sometimes surging down to 300-400. I also have an AEM pulley installed and a multi-battery isolater on the alternator. Could it be because of those two mentioned, or is it linked to the supposedly almost blown (if that's what it is) head gasket?

Thanks for the help and advice in Advance!

blue smoke it from burning oil. You might need new piston rings. The low idle might be because of not enough fuel. Try some fuel injector cleaner.

I'm just guessing here, but as far as the occasional surging, when you connected the battery back for your swap, did you just let the car idle, without touching the gas for 5 or 10 minutes, then shut it off? Try that. Remember to leave the battery disconnected for like 15 minutes before you try to clear the ECU memory.

the white smoke may be the result of burning coolant: a sign of a blown head gasket and as for the low idle, you may have to replace the IACV located on your intake manifold

just to elaborate
coolant will smell like burning syrup. water will just blow ALOT of smoke
(i almost hydrolocked my engine today. i know.)

ok, pull your spark plugs and check the color and condition.

this is one of the best diagnostic proceedures around - post pics if you can.

have you set the idle using the proper proceedure?

ie pulling the IACV plug etc

let us know...

t..
