Default First civic questions

Hi all, I own a civic now nothing special but I want to upgrade. Right now I have a 1995 Honda Civic DX 4dr and would like to go with one of the Hatchbacks or maybe del sol? What do you all think is better? Also I'm having trouble finding any hatchbacks for sale where could I look?

And my biggest question is can anyone give me any tips on how to make sure I don't end up driving a ricer? That's the last thing I'd want to do. Thanks!

Get a 96-00 (EK) or 92-95 (EG) hatchback, they look better then a Del Sol. Also, don't worry about what model you get considering I'd recommend you swap out the more for atleast an LS unless you're planning on boosting the d16.

And a tip for not ricing out your car:

- don't put a black widow body kit on it
- seriously, don't put a black widow body kit on it
- 18" chrome wheels aren't cool
- vinyls unfortunately don't add horsepower
- and don't buy eBay brand parts

Stay away from altezza tail light's, fart can's, body kits, and more stuff that other people can list, most people consider that "rice"

You should try to look for a completely stock, or near stock civic to start off with.

browse through the appearance/cosmetic forum and get ideas from there, most of the cars in there are pretty nice and you can get an idea of what's cool these day's i suppose.

Have you tried craigslist?

What's the difference between an EK and an EG?

Also thinking ahead as this has always bugged me, say I get a hatchback and its looking good and not bad performance and I put like a turbo kit on it how does that affect my mpg's? The amount of money I save on gas driving my Civic is one of my favorite reasons to own it. So would putting a turbo in or even doing anything to the engine to boost performance affect my mpg negatively?

Thanks!

The difference between an "EG" and an "EK" is EG's aren't correctly, but known as 92-95 civics, and EK's are known as 96-00 civics.

Ill post some pics to show the difference in one minute.

"EK"

"EG"

Will take down pics at owners request.

differences are endless between an "EK" (as you insist on calling it, and an "EG". Completely different bodystyle. Different motors. Different interiors. Different suspension setups. Different options. Find what YOU like and do what YOU like to YOUR car. Don't build yet another HT car.
