Default Rattle sound from belt area on ep3

I been getting a rattling sound coming from the left side of the engine... it sounds like its coming from the belt area or underneath there.. i tried spraying some wd40 around the top two belt pulleys i think one is the belt tensioner as someone suggested on another forum... but it did not resolve the issue...

any ideas? Please see the videos

When does it make the noise? I'd say it's the passenger mount. Did you check/tighten the pulley bolts?

it makes the noise when its at idle..... and when i rev it it gets a little louder..... So u think i should try to tighten all those nuts that hold the belts ???

I really doubt it's a loose pulley. It would have probably fallen off if it's loose at all. Stock exhaust? Check your heat shield.

If it does it at idle just listen/look around until you find the noise.

hey white on rice thanks for your help so far...

i put my car up on ramps... let the car run and tried to look from the sound... it sounds like its coming from the very bottom pulley... I notice that pulley spins it doesnt look quite straight.. like if you look from above it looks like it moves a little wobbly... You know like if a wheel is not centered it will wobble? It looks sort of like that.... But hte belt is on there straight....

I dont know if that is a big deal or not.. i think i give up... as long as its safe i'll just leave it.....

i had the same problem, take a good look to the pulleys. i had to replace the water pump the wheel was kinda loose, not noticable by the eye but if you spin it youll notice the sound. jack the car, loose the ac belt and check every pulley, im sure that its the water pump, let me know how that go

sorry havent gotten it figure out.. it sounds like its coming from the very bottom pully gear thingie.. i have no idea how to even adjust it or what not.....

i tried just putting a socket on it and turning it but it just turned the whole wheel and belt...

so i just been driving around with the noise... its sorta loud...

I really, really, REALLY doubt it's the crank pulley. Keep looking.

If you still think it's a pulley, take the serpentine belt off completely and spin all pulleys but the crank pulley (lowest). It could be the water pump like ricardo_achata
said. That pulley doesn't have the grooves in it or a nut holding it on; it kind of looks like a cam gear.

Other things to check: heat shields, motor mounts, entire suspension, etc.

wait yea thats the one i was thinking it was... the wheel that doesnt have a nut holding it on... and its the most bottom and rear of all those gears.....?!

anyways i havent climbed under there.. its still making that sound.... how long do you think before my car starts having real problems and i get stranded on the side of the road??? I'm guessing i'm gonna have to take it to a mechanic to get it fixed because it looks like its real complicated under there...

Get your car on jacks, remove the pass side wheel and then remove the lining that runs under the motor into the inner wheel well. The pulleys will be exposed for the most part and you can see exactly where it's at.

Have a buddy kinda rev the engine a little so you can pin point where the sound is.

i did that sorta.. got the car on ramps... looked under that area and pulled the plastic lining to the side.... it sounds like its the bottom back wheel thingie..... Anyways if it is that one.. i would have no idea how to fix that........

Please just remove your serpentine belt and spin the water pump pulley by hand. Diagnose by elimination.

That shounds like your valves are Wrapping!!!! You have bad gas or have raced the engine lately or had someone adjust the valves that didnt' know what they were doing. Valves are my choice...Don't drive it

ok so what should i do? Take it to a honda mechanic??? I just bought the car very recently with 118k miles on it...... perhaps a valve adjustment may resolve this?? I guess the 120k service should be coming up real soon too.... Perhaps doing the 120k maintenance service and valve adjustment???

I havent put any bad gas in it as far as i know and i definately had not raced it...

The car itself runs perfectly fine, it idles smoothly..... Just its a real annoying sound..... and i dont want any major damage to occur.. so if anything preventitive can be done...
