i just picked up a b-pipe that was on a eg and it had the 3 bolt flange on it and the pipe that comes from my cat to the b-pipe only has two. so i was wondering, does any one know if there is space under a 96 cx hatchback to relocated the cat to the bottom? damn y7's just had to have the cat in the engine bay.

 

dont know much about the y7 but i know on the cx eg with the cat in the header the exhaust b pipe bolts directly to the downpipe where as in say an ex the cat will go between which is probably what the new pipe you got is for so your problem isnt necessarily the 3 bolt flange but the fact that the pipe wont even reach the downpipe...
so what you can do is buy a test pipe that would normally replace the cat under the chassis (they can be cheap to expensive depending what you want) test pipes come with one side having the 2 bolt flange and the other end is a 3 bolt flange...
This why would make it possible to keep you stock header if needed, use the New b pipe, and stay legal all with no cutting or welding

I dont know if this helped at all cuz it may be a lil confusing but the people here should be able to point ya in the correct direction...

it makes sense but i lined up the b pipe and it lines up with the stock one. im probably just goin to get a differnet flange rewelded on there.
