Default Is changing from normal to synthetic oil in a older engine bad?

I just get my 98 civic EX and I'm going to change the oil for the first time since I got it. It has 114,000 miles on it and wanted to switch to synthetic, but I've read that its bad to switch older cars with higher miles because the synthetic is so much smoother it can knock the gunk and buildup out and clog the oil filter. Is there any thing I can do to break it in first or should I just stick with non synthetic?

Dude, just give it a quick seafoam job following the instructions on the can, than just do ur synthetic oil/filter change and ur good... Unless your using like Amsoil or something thats purely TRUE synthetic i doubt ur gonna knock any gunk/deposits loose... And if ur motors that bad full of gunk you need to start keeping more up to date on ur oil changes...
