Default mini me question!!

im considering buying a z6 head for my b7 bottom, all stock internals. would this be a good idea especially since ill be boosting that same motor at about 6psi. and someone told me that boost cancels out vtech, is that true?

Nope, it's just one of the many myths out there about Hondas. Mitsubishis have their own "version" of valve timing on their Lancer Evolutions (MIVEC), which are obviously turbocharged. And most of the high horsepower turbocharged Hondas and Acuras have VTEC engines.

if youve got a VTEC head no matter what you do to the motor (nitrous/turbocharge/supercharge) you will still have vtec. do you understand how vtec works?

vtec creates overlap in the valves ! , after combustion stroke the exhaust valves opens so the 4th stroke happens ( exhaust ) , after this , it starts again , so the intake valves opens . at this point if vtec is engaged lobes are high lift than normal and at some point exhaust and intake valves are open , with forced induction reduces the dynamic compresion , but the car generates more power ,

I had a mini me setup in my 94 DX and I spent a little over a grand and it never ran right. It was the biggest waste of my money and IMO doing a mini me is the biggest waste of time because there are a lot of swaps that you could save for instead.. I now have a b18b1 with a b16a3 trans and I love it, I esspecially loved it when I waxed my friends ZX2 which has a few mods. Save your money for a DOHC motor! theres my 2 cents. Goodluck.

If you're going to be boosting, save your money for an entire z6 or just the turbo parts themselves.

I did a mini me on my 91 hatch and it was FAST, internals were stock. I converted to OBD1, header, exhaust, suspension work, ground kit, brake upgrades, external coil, fuel pressure regulator, plugs, wires, clutch, flywheel, ZC DOHC tranny, serious weight reduction, new timing belt, water pump, timing gear, ect. cant remember what else.

A SRT had a hard time keeping up. it was a fun car. if you going to do it, do it right or it will just run like **** and get it tune once you done

Well.... it sounds like you did a lot more than just a mini-me.
