Default leaking headgasket

Im leaking a lil bit of oil above the header from the head I assume. I think its cause the head bolts have been torqued 2 many times(5 times exactly). What do u guys think? It seems to b affecting the idle a lil. Im not getting any coolant in the oil or anything and compression is 210 across the board

if your using stock head bolts they may have stretched, get some brake cleaner and clean as much of the head as you can and try to find exactly where the oil is coming from, could have bad o rings on dizzy, cam seals

If it's above the header it's not the head gasket. More likely the valve cover gasket.

Exactly. You're in luck as far as the work that needs to be done. Honda sells Hondabond that's good for sealing the corners in a valve cover gasket, but any Permatex (gray is reccomended) will do along with a new valve cover gasket, if this is the problem of course.

The header is bolted to the head and the head gasket is under the head and on top of the block, in between both of them. So if the oil is comming from above the header flange it would be a valve cover leak most likely, if under the header flange it would be your head gasket most likely, since the head gasket is under the head.

But anyways, it's comming from where the block meets the head. So you may have answered your own question, it's okay I do it all the time. But, the good compression is somewhat boggling me if your head gasket is blown and leaking oil.

Rok Stok- I''ve been enjoying trouble free driving for the last 3-years, so no need to post.

Hondachris- any chance you can upload a pic for us? My experience has been that Honda's will blow the gasket between number one and two cylinders. Even then, I had no oil leakage. It was also on the intake (back) side of the head.

Are you running DOHC or SOHC? If it's DOHC, check the cam plug as well. The leaking from there will run down the corner of the head and along the block/head area and look like a leak there.

Low vacuum testing should tell you if it's actually the head gasket.
